This choral arts residency offered an intergenerational group of singers the opportunity to explore Eastern European and Judeo-Spanish choral pieces, and traditional melody-drone songs from the Balkans. Participants worked with master teaching artist Tatiana Sarbinska and the Orfeia ensemble, along with guest dancers, musicians, and the Carpe Diem community singers.

National Folklore Festival

This National Folklore Festival takes place once every five years, in the mountain village of Koprivshtitsa. Every village, town and city in Bulgaria sends its best folk musicians and dancers to perform traditional works for three days. Beautiful, ancient harmonies resound from peak to peak, and elevate the soul! Visitors come from around the world to experience and participate. We joined our brother and sister groups Zornitsa and Orfeia, and performed village-style folk songs at the festival.
