A Prestigious Award for Composition!

October 1, 2010

Anyone who has had the opportunity to study with and be conducted by artistic director, Tatiana Sarbinska knows that she is truly multi-talented. A brilliant and passionate vocalist, and a gifted and devoted teacher, Tatiana also does many of the arrangements for her ensembles' songs. As a composer, Tatiana has written several beautiful songs of her own, including Katerino Mome and Oj Dimitre Sine Mitre, both of which are widely known and loved in Bulgaria. To add to her composition oeuvre, this past summer Tatiana wrote a beautiful orchestral piece titled "Moyeta Pesen" ("My Song"), for classical instruments and inspired by traditional Bulgarian music. She entered the piece in a juried competition, and yesterday we learned she won the top prize in her category!!! The competition was hosted by The Sveti Georgi Pobedonosets Foundation in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and the category in which she entered her piece was titled International Competition for Symphonic Composition Based on Traditional Motifs in 7/8. Congratulations Tanya!!!
